The Peninsula Is Where People Retire To, and Stay
The median age on the Peninsula is 48 and the average household is 2.2 people. In plain terms, a lot of the homes here have one or two people in them, often retired, often in a villa or a townhouse rather than the big house they raised a family in. Most of them have no intention of going anywhere, and nor should they. What usually changes is not the house, it is how manageable it is. Coming Home From Woy Woy Hospital
Woy Woy Hospital is a rehabilitation hospital rather than an emergency one. People do not arrive there by ambulance. They go there to get back on their feet, usually after a fall, a stroke, a hip, or a long stay somewhere else, and then they come home and try to manage. Which means if you are coming home from Woy Woy, something has changed about how you move around your own house. That is a different job to a normal clean, and it is one we do often.
Before you come home, not after
Tell us the discharge date and we go in beforehand. Fridge emptied, fresh linen on the bed, bathroom reset, bins done. Short notice is normal for us.
Set up for a walker or a frame
Floors done and properly dry. Loose mats, cords and anything else on a walkway cleared out of the way rather than cleaned around. Bathroom and bedroom done first, because that is where you will be.
Set up ongoing while you recover
Most people need more help for the first month or two than they do later. We can start weekly and drop back to fortnightly when you are ready, rather than locking you into anything.

Villas, Townhouses and Single-Level Living
Nearly a quarter of homes on the Peninsula are a villa, a duplex or a townhouse, which is close to 4 times the rate up at Wyong. A lot of them are in over-55s complexes or strata. Cleaning one is not the same job as cleaning a house and most quotes are written as though it is.
Smaller, but not easier
Less floor, but everything is tighter. Narrow hallways, a bathroom you cannot get a trolley into, and furniture that has to be worked around rather than moved. We quote on what is actually there.
Strata and common areas
Lobbies, paths, carports and bin areas, scheduled and invoiced to the strata manager. If your complex has been through three cleaners in two years, that is usually a scheduling problem rather than a cleaning one.
Nothing gets moved without asking
In a smaller home everything has a place and that place is usually deliberate. We do not rearrange things to make our job easier.
Salt, Damp and a House 4 Metres Above the Water
Woy Woy sits about 4 metres above sea level on an estuary, with Brisbane Water on one side and the ocean at the mouth. That does things to a house that an inland suburb never deals with.
Salt on glass and screens
Windows, screens and sliding door tracks take a salt film that ordinary spray smears rather than removes. Left alone it builds up over a season until the view goes hazy.
Mould in the rooms that never get sun
Bathrooms, the south side of the house, inside wardrobes and behind furniture against an external wall. We treat it while it is still a surface mark, which is while it still comes off.
Winter condensation
A closed-up single-level villa through winter runs with condensation on glass and sills, and that is where the mould starts. Worth staying on top of monthly rather than fixing once a year.
Damp through the floor
Low-lying blocks get it through slabs and under vinyl, and the smell turns up before the stain does. If you can smell it and not see it, say so when you call and we will have a proper look.
